The University Background
The St. Gabriel Foundation, a world wide organization founded in France in 1705, is responsible for the establishment and administration
of Assumption University. The foundation has been dedicated to education and philanthropic activities in Thailand for more than 100 years
and it now operates 15 educational institutions porviding all level of eduation.
Assumption School of Business was originally founded in 1969, and in 1972, it becomes Assumption
Business Administraiotn College(ABAC). In 1975, the Ministry of University Affairs accredited
ABAC and later in 1990, it was accredited a fully-fleged university and renamed as Assumption University
(AU). The University is administrered by a Council which takes policy intiatives and porvides guidance for
long-term planning and the formulation of control procedures.
AU is considered the leading private university in Thailand in the fields of Business. Management and Information Technology as demonstrated by the placement of many of its graduates in key management
and national conglomerates worldwide.
The University's curriculum is patterned after the American semester hour credit system and most text-
books are similar to those used in international universities. Graduates receive an education that is both
globally marketable and flexible leading to hightly productive carrers in places where the students have
come from and where they aspire to be.

Accreditation
The Universtiy is accredited by the Thai Ministry of University Affairs and the Civil Service Commission
of Thailand. In Addition, its programs are accepted by the Assocition of Christian Universities and Colleges in Asia (ACUCA), the Association of Southeast Asian Institutions of Higher Learning (ASAIHL)
and the International Federation of Catholic Universities (IFCU).
The AU is listed in the Handbook of Unviersitites and other Institutions of the International Association of
Universities in Paris, France. Its programs are recognized in the USA, England, Australia and other countries, and the transfer of credits are accepted abroad. Graduates can pursue advanced degrees anywhere in the world.

Strategic partners and internationl connections
The University has a growing number of partnerships with institutions from the United States, the United
Kingdom and Austraila. With relationships involve faculty exchanges, visiting porfessors, student exchanges and joint degree programs, Assumptin University also offers enhanced educational opportunities
which add to the international experience of our students.
AU Students have oppprtunities to study or transfer abroad. As exchange students, they may study for
a semester or a year in the US, Europe, Australia or elsewhere at major universities and colleges, often
at greatly reduced costs. European, American, Australian and other students also attend AU. They sit
in the same classes as other regular AU students; AU is an International University not a University with an Internatnioal Program.
